Over the years I’ve been able to meet and photograph loads of different and incredible humans. It's the people who I connect with that really mean a lot to me and that part stays with me for a long time! I don't care what somebody looks like, it's about more than that, it's about what's behind their eyes.
When I look through the viewfinder into someone's eyes, and I've asked them something intimate, not intrusive, but something that's just between me and them. In that moment, through that tiny window, and there's nothing else… and they answer me, with their eyes, without even saying a word…That to me is the most magical thing and I never want to stop doing it. It's always been there but I've only recently understood it, and now it's all I want to do. I can't tell you how much it fills me up with all of the best things in life. It's the greatest feeling!
It has always been, and it will always be, about showing people the beauty that is within them, whatever they look like. I want people to feel seen, and heard, and valued. To feel like they matter, because they do. People matter a lot to me, their stories, their vulnerabilities and the strength that comes from these. That's what is important; who they are, the journey that brought them here to sit in front of me. Because ultimately that's what leads to an amazing portrait!
